After reading Marc’s recent post in this forum about Fleer GOOFY GAGS, it reminded me of 2 other non-sports releases that are also sometimes overlooked by collectors because they were issued as bonus inserts in packs of Topps football cards. These non-sports releases are FUNNY RINGS (issued in 1966 Topps football packs) and KRAZY PENNANTS (issued in 1967 Topps football packs). A complete set of FUNNY RINGS is 24 cards (plus checklist) and a complete set of KRAZY PENNANTS is 31 stickers.
Posted here are pictures to show examples of the wrappers for these 2 releases. Through various sources, I was able to identify at least 3 different ad wrapper variations for each of these releases. They are as follows: FUNNY RINGS (wrapper ads for Indian Headdress Kit, Magic Magnet Set, and Camera) and KRAZY PENNANTS (wrapper ads for Exploding Battleship, Chemical Magic Set, and Camera).
Copied below are links to websites that show example pictures of some of the cards/stickers from these non-sports sets along with additional information. These non-sports issues are also listed and described in the Sport Americana Price Guide to Non-Sports Cards covering non-sports releases from the 60s and 70s.

That didn't take long! 😄 Yes, "Funny Rings" were also in cello packs!
Mike, I will have to research the "Funny Rings"... I've never looked into them. As for "Goofy Gags", I mainly research Topps, so never looked at those either.
"Krazy Pennants" Type 1 (Stickers)
"Krazy Pennants" Type 2 (Cards with numbers)
"Krazy Pennants" Type 3 (Cards without numbers)
Did both of these issues come in cello packs?
How about 1963 Fleer Football with Goofy Gags?
My checklist would like to know!
Just for clarity... “Krazy Pennants” come in three types. Type 1 are the numbered stickers; type 2 are cards (not stickers) with numbers but no “Peel...” line; and type 3 are cards without numbers or the “Peel...” line. All three are believed to have been released in ‘67 Football... I have images of some cello packs showing a type 2 (might be type 3) on the bottom. I’ll post some images tomorrow.
Officially added to the new checklist!
That funny rings checklist card looks awesome. I try to stick to only unopened stuff but when you guys post images like that it makes me want to buy the card also. That card reminds me of the vending machine advertisement cards that were in candy and toy machines.
Thanks Mike. I just posted an additional picture below to show an example of the front and back of the Funny Rings Checklist Card (card #15 from the 1966 Topps football card set). This card shows the artwork for all 24 Funny Rings.
I think that this is a great idea. I never heard about these issues before.
Definitely a "yes" from me! What does everybody else think?
